Does the G2M work with piano sounds?
Although the G2M can be used to play any sound (even non-musical sounds), certain instruments do not sound natural when the pitch is adjusted by pitch-bend. Piano is a good example. The combination of the envelope of the piano sound and the listener's expectation for a "straight" tone that...

Why doesn't the G2M track pitch correctly?
The G2M will track the pitch of a signal very quickly and very accurately. However, the limitations of converting a vibrant analogue signal into a digital MIDI signal can cause problems if the receiving MIDI device isn't setup correctly for the G2M. MIDI can control pitch in two ways: note and pitch...

Why do I get long latency with the G2M?
The G2M will convert your signal with a very low latency. If you are experiencing long latency between playing your instrument and hearing the results, it is most likely a problem with your synthesizer/sound module (synth). You can easily check the G2M by looking at the MIDI LED. When you hit a note...

Re: G2M in piezo and wireless applications
We have not tried a nylon string guitar, so I can't say what that's like. But, I would expect it to work very well as long as the output level is OK. For wireless, you mean wireless guitar signal? We haven't tried this but I can't think of any problems if the signal level is suitable. The G2M has be...

Re: How do I write tab using this device?
We have tried some different notation (tab) applications and they all work reasonably well. However, none that we have tried so far correctly responds to pitch-bend, so it doesn't directly translate all the nuances of your playing including vibrato and string bends. Also, because the G2M doesn't kno...

G2M Reviews from Winter NAMM 2009
Here is an overview of what people have been saying about the G2M since its launch at Winter NAMM '09. http://chucklevins.wordpress.com/2009/02/02/the-namm-show-a-chuck-levins-perspective-pt-1/ "With a list price of $99, the Peterson SONUUS G2M should easily fit the budget of every creative gui...

Re: G2M & Piezo Pickups?
I have not tried with an acoustic, but have tried with an electro-acoustic with both bridge-mounted piezos and normal pickups. It tracked very well with the piezos and the level wasn't a problem. There is usually a pre-amp built into the guitar with piezo pickups and this gives a pretty good signal ...

Re: Voice-to-MIDI files
I fully agree about the usefulness of this.
If you want a voice-to-note solution today, get the G2M. If you want something more specific to vocal, please give us your specifications so we can consider this in a future product -- what would you need it to do that the G2M doesn't?

Re: Can I use the G2M with a bass guitar?
Although the G2M will work with a bass guitar, it doesn't support the lowest octave (i.e., below E2), so it only really works for the higher notes (those in the range of a normal guitar). Even so, we have some users that do play bass and still find the G2M very useful. My advise to bass players if t...

Re: Polyphonic MIDI?!
If you have a solution to this, then great, send it to me and we'll hire you. Or maybe you should patent it! But you won't be able to get beyond the limitations of the physics (unless you have a time machine or something similar). Absolute zero-latency is not physically possible. You cannot measure ...
