The Roland Gaia has two standard 5-pin DIN MIDI jacks, one for input (use this) and one for output. I'm guessing you have hooked your Gaia up to your computer using the USB type B port on the back of the Gaia...maybe the Gaia treats MIDI over USB a little different than MIDI over DIN. Yes, you have your set up correctly: For guitar, keep Switches 1 and 2 down (so OFF). The sticker on the back of the battery compartment can deff be a little confusing. Black is the position of the switch, whereas White is the absence of the switch (think it as if it is empty space, not being colore...

I could be wrong, but if you want to mainly use the high C-string, then I'd suggest that you put the G2M into the default guitar mode. I think it'll handle the higher frequencies better. There might be an upper range limit that the bass modes might have, which is what you are noticing on the C-strin...
