Korg Kaossillator + Sonuus G2M

Post by slate »

Good afternoon, everyone,

Plug a Korg Kaossillator into a Sonuus G2M. Use only one RCA
output from the Korg as its rapid signal panning between the
two channels confuses the G2M if you combine them both into a
mono input.

Tune the Korg to D# above middle C, which seem to be best at
producing all-around harmonies and pleasant dissonances. Pick
a scale for the Korg so it is not gliding between notes too
smoothly: the G2M will reproduce this glide, which may sound
ugly. I am using Myxolydian.

Take the MIDI output from the G2M and route in through as many
synths as you want. It is MIDI, it works with all of the hard
synths I've tried: Virus, Tetr4, Sonic Cell, Fantom-G6, Blofeld,
Korg Micro-X, M3, R3, Novation X-Station 25, etc...

Some patches sound better than others: tune them. The arpeggiator
on the synth may need to be tuned: the G2M has fantastically LOW
latency. It sends notes & pitch bends them very rapidly. Some Korg
patches are translated into beautiful glissandos by the G2M. Even
the Kaossilator's "chord patches" seem to be single notes sent
rapidly one after the other. The G2M can detect and handle them.

Practice. It is taking me some time, not much, to get my style
wrapped around this. But the G2M works out of the box, and does
exactly what I thought it would do: pitch-to-MIDI for my non-MIDI
Kaossillator with some rapid translation of its output to produce
beautiful effects.

Cheers!
