Natural MIDI (Sounds of nature & G2M)

Good morning, everyone,
The G2M also works fine with inputs taken from nature.
A recording of bullfrogs and morning birds made at dawn
outside the community center at a friend's co-op housing
in Atlanta preserves the pitch of the different species and
creates a randomly beautiful sonic tapestry. The breaks in the
wildlife's various songs add interest and openness to the
improvisation. It also filters out the background traffic and
human speech, and is enjoyable to listen to without any
playing on my part. Ooops—there goes my secret!
The "piece" was performed using two multi's from the Virus and
Sonic Cell, and not tweaked. To make it better I would map
instruments to the different ranges of the recording: frogs get
bassoons, timpani and french horns; birds get strings, trumpets
and bells. It would be interesting (and märchen-like) to have
an orchestra of frogs and birds! Or as Aristophanes would say,
"Brek-kek-kek-kek-koax." See, finally a use for my BA in Latin
and Greek!
I'll get example pieces of natural MIDI and a Kaossillator improv up
in the next few days so you can judge for yourselves. IMHO, this
little box is a gem.
Cheers!
