James,

I am just about getting to grips with the playing technique needed to use the i2M Musicport. I am using it to trigger various plugins within Cubase 5 but every time I open the Sonuus editor to tweak my guitar settings the midi connection crashes and is totally unretreavable. What am I doing wrong? Can the midi output from the i2M being routed another way perhaps? I have an M-AUDIO midisport 2X2 with a free port.
Any ideas please? :|

Can you give use more information about your setup: operating system (32/64 bit), what parts of the i2M are active (MIDI only, or Audio + MIDI, are you using the i2M ASIO driver, etc).

We have seen a couple of reports regarding this but we have not been able to reproduce this yet, so are not yet able to provide any fix. We would love to be able to reproduce this, so the more details you can provide the better.

Thanks for the quick response!

Firstly - I am not using the asio driver.

SMBIOS Version 2.3

Cubase 5

M-Audio Multisport 2x2 midi interface
Korg M1 Keyboard
Epson R300 Printer
HP Scanjet 4200 scanner

These are perminently connected.

When I open the editor I get a sustained midi note on the current instrument, when I cancel this, I lose the i2M MIDI funtionality completely. Re-opening Cubase has no effect and a restart is needed.

Hope this helps,

Thanks

Great, thanks. We'll see if we can discover anything. From reports so far, it seems to be isolated to Windows XP, which is interesting.

Good.Is there another midi workaround or do you think it is just an OS thing?

I'm not sure just now. I am guessing the problem is with the i2M editor, or rather the communication that is done from the OS to the i2M when using this. If that's the case, you should be able to configure the i2M settings using the editor, then they will be saved in the i2M. Then you can use the i2M without the editor using up to 4 presets you have created. NOTE: to ensure the settings are fully stored in the i2M, you should disconnect it from the computer after editing the settings, then connect it again to confirm the settings have been stored correctly.

It would be good to know if it works ok for you if you don't use the i2M editor.

Can you try another USB cable to see if you have the same problem?

We've just had a report from someone with the same problem, and using a different USB cable fixed the problem. Probably there is a bad connection inside the USB cable so sometimes it disconnects if the i2M is moved.
