The i2M musicport is a monophonic MIDI converter. If you play a chord, it will try to track only the most dominant note and play that (or play nothing if the input isn't pure enough).

You can play chords by using the editor to setup zones, where a single note you play can trigger up to 6 MIDI notes.

The reason the i2M is monophonic is to make it as fast as possible, and to allow accurate pitch-bend to be captured. Tracking chords would make it much slower.

Of course, the i2M USB audio input works with chords.
