Update Firmware error

Post by Wiecher »

Hi guys,

My i2M fails in updating its firmware.
I use version 1.0.02 of the firmware updater.
My PC runs Windows 7.
What happens is the following:
within the desktop i2M musicport software I saw that the firmware version of my i2M is 1.0.00
Therefore I would like to update.
I have put the file i2Mmusicport_1_0200.sfu.
This file I have selected for updating.
Then the i2M starts flahsing RED and then I got the update error.
Please help!

Thx, Wiecher

Is the i2M still working normally, but with older firmware?

You can use the updater directly, without going through the editor app to perform the update. Please try this:

(1) Connect the i2M to USB while holding down its botton, this will enter update mode so that the LED is flashing red.

(2) Run the firmware updater, and locate the .sfu file you want to use. The firmware loader should tell you this is an i2M upgrade, and then detect that the i2M is present.

(3) Press Update and it should update the firmware.

(4) Close the firmware updater, and the i2M should reboot into normal mode.

Let us know what happens.

On the Mac, if you are using the i2M editor to initiate the upgrade, you need to ensure that the i2M editor AND the firmware updater are both in the same folder, otherwise the editor can't find the updater and you get this error. Currently, the i2M editor and firmware updater are separate downloads.

In Windows, the installers take care of things for you so they don't need to be in the same folder, but they do (of course) both need to be installed.

Hi,

I just tried your suggestion to use the firmware updater directly.
I double-clicked on the .sfu file but nothing happens.

Hi again,

What I just forgot to mention: the i2M is working normally.
But because there is some latency and inaccuracy in the conversion I would like to run the new firmware with its latency test built in.
For your info: I'm using a NS Design Electric Upright Bass as input and I have to turn up the volume to the max, otherwise no signal is being picked up.

I just tried your suggestion to use the firmware updater directly.
I double-clicked on the .sfu file but nothing happens.
Once you load the .sfu file, what does it say in the Firmware Updater info window? Something like:

"Firmware update ready (Version: 1.2.00)
Device: i2M musicport
Please connect the device you wish to update"?

This is what should be shown before the i2M is connected.

Next connect the i2M in update mode (hold its button while connecting). The i2M should flash red. The firmware updater should change to show the hardware and firmware version of the connected device and allow you to use the "Update" button.

How is your experience different from this?

Are you turning up the i2M volume, or the Bass' volume, or both? Certainly if the signal level is very small conversion accuracy can be compromised.

Hi,

Just followed your suggestion.
Unfortunately nothing happens.
Pressing the load-button in the Firmware Updater does open a file-menu.
Double-clicking the .sfu file results in ................... nothing.
After a few seconds the file-menu box disappears again.

Cheers,

I think the .sfu file must be corrupt. Can you download this again and see if it fixes it?

Hi,

Update successful!
Now I'm going to hunt after the latency and incorrect translations.

Thanks so far!
