Hello,
I was wondering where you have been putting the Voluum in your effect chain? Would you suggest getting a flip flop box? I generally put trem after modulation and before delay, but I put my compressor before dirt. These are the things that keep me up at night.
Effect chain?
Re: Effect chain?
You are correct -- it's a dilemma!
Tremolo before distortion won't give you as much of an effect as after distortion because the compressive effect of the distortion will swamp out the level changes of the tremolo. But making the depth of the tremolo larger (the Voluum can have up to 99dB of cut) will work, but it still won't sound exactly the same.
Similarly, I agree with what you say about the compressor -- before dirt.
A flip-flop box to switch the position of the Voluum in the effects chain is certainly a very good idea. It really depends what you are trying to achieve and I think you'll need to experiment to see where in the chain works best for you for different effects.
