Loose pedal - can't tighten

Post by MJAU72 »

Hi Sonuus,

I recently bought a second hand Voluum (I had one a few years back but it wasn't what I was looking for at that time).

This unit has a loose pedal that doesn't seem to be able to be tightened.

Looking at the unit it seems there is no approach for a user to resolve this issue.

The bolt that is accessible to the user just spins and there is no way to actually get the pedal off the unit to resolve this issue.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Update:

I used the Wahoo guide re: opening the unit housing to separate the pedal.

This was a very convoluted process but does give an indication where this/these pedals can be improved re: access to the pedal for adjustments and repairs.

Because the design allows the user to adjust the tightness of the pedal with an hex key from one side only (should be both sides to alleviate this issue) this makes it possible to strip the screw/bolt - that's what affects my unit.

This pedal is now useless for what I bought it for and can't be repaired by this weekend for planned gigs.

Sonuus - is there anywhere or anyway I can get the spare parts in Australia for this repair? Sending it to Deluxe Guitars in Melbourne is a no go as they will charge me the value of the pedal for repairs and freight.

Please respond in kind.

If the bolt is loosened too much, it may be possible to release it from it's captive position so that you can no longer tighten it. Perhaps this is what happened?

The instructions to disassemble are indeed the same as the Wahoo, so it's easy to completely take it apart to fully service the unit.

It shouldn't be possible to strip the main hinge bolt or nuts using a normal force from an allen key. It's certainly not something we've come across before with these pedals. Is it this main bolt you are talking about?

The bolt is a standard metric size, but the length is custom. It's certainly possible to cut a longer bolt to the correct size (we've done it for prototyping). I don't think we have spares of this, but I will check for you.

Hi James,

I have resolved the issue by matching the bolt and nut with a local specialist - cost just under $5.00

Everything is working fine now and is ready to gig this weekend - loving controlling my HX Stomp with it!

All the best,
Matt
