G2m tracking

Post by jnmoran »

Hi, I mostly fingerpick acoustic guitar, very few full chords and was wondering if you had any experience with the quality of G2m tracking in relation to arppegio playing a la James Taylor. No chords but lots of fingerpicked notes. I would be usnig a piano sound from my Kurzweil micro piano almost exclusively. Thanks for your thoughts, John

We have not tested this extensively, but if you can guarantee that only 1 string is playing at a time, fingerpicking is not a problem. In fact, you often get better results than using a plectrum.

The main problems you will have are:

(1) making sure when you pluck a string, that you hit only one string.

(2) when moving between strings, ensure the last string stops ringing before the next one is played.

The G2M is tolerant of the more than one string playing, but it can still cause problems, particularly if the notes are close together. Low notes (open E and A strings) will cause most problems.
