Combining Guitar & Synth Signals / ABY Pedal / FX Pedals

Post by ChicoMann »

Will the pitch tracking be negatively affected if the guitar signal passes through the SEND channel of a Boss LS-2 or other ABY pedal?

Or does the G2M have to come first in the chain?

[1] This is my proposed configuration in order to my guitar and synth signals pass through the same pedalboard FX chain:

Guitar --> Boss LS-2 INPUT --> OUTPUT --> Pedalboard FX
Boss LS-2 SEND A --> G2M --> Synth Module --> Boss LS-2 RETURN A --> OUTPUT --> Pedalboard FX

[2] Does it have to be this way in order to ensure the best tracking?

Guitar --> G2M --> Synth --> CHANNEL A
G2M Guitar THRU --> CHANNEL B
CHANNEL A + B --> FX Pedals

As the impedances are not equal, in order to go through the same guitar FX pedal chain the ABY needs to be active (ie., an active mini mixer).

How to G2M users combine their guitar and synth signals to go through the same FX chain?

Either way should work fine.

As long as the Boss LS-2 SEND A doesn't change the signal significantly (boost or cut the level, or add distortion) there should be no problems using that.
