What the Gate?

I have the I2M very compact seems well made too.
I am hoping to use it With my Martin acoustic to input to notation Program and am still trying to clean up my picking..
Could you explain how the Gate function of the sofware manager should be operated?

You adjust the gate control by clicking one end of it and dragging to set the low or high note. You can also use the mousewheel while hovering over one of the ends, or type directly into the note boxes.

The gate allows zones to ignore certain notes, so you can direct different notes to different MIDI channels to control different instruments/synths. So, you can switch between different sounds just by playing different regions on your guitar.
