Detecting Extra Harmonics as Midi / "Echo" Effect (?)

Post by jd123 »

Hello. I have a guitar connected to the i2M. When I few note in succession, slowly, it seems to pick up the extra harmonics of each note and interpret these as midi input, so that I get a bunch of extra, full-on notes being played as though there is some discordant ghost musician is playing with me (or, kind of like an echo effect). Is there a way to cut off these extra harmonics in the input, so that it doesn't interpret them as such?

Thanks,
JD

This is usually caused by a string/pickup combination that is very sensitive to harmonics such as active bridge pickups.

Usually careful damping of the strings helps (the same as you'd do when playing with a very distorted guitar sound). Alternatively using "softer" pickups like the neck pickup can reduce this.
