B2M MIDI cable into Edirol MIDI IN?

Post by GUTG »

Hi I am getting a B2M very shortly and was wondering if I needed a dedicated MIDI module or could the note information go from the B2M from the MIDI cable into a MIDI IN on my Edirol PCR-30 Keyboard to control my plug in synths and instruments on my computer?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can connect the B2M to the MIDI-IN of your keyboard and then use it to drive soft synths on your computer. Ensure the latency of your soft synths is low (which I assume you already have working so you can play with the keyboard), then the B2M will also work with low latency, adding only a small amount of necessary latency required by the MIDI conversion.

Thanks for the reply. I have all the latency settings already set up on my computer to an acceptable level. To be able to plug the B2M into the keyboard will I need a 5 pin DIN cable/lead?

Latency -- I'm pleased to hear that!

Yes, you need a standard 5-pin MIDI lead -- these are widely available.
