Trouble tracking Velocity and Breath Control

Post by stephband »

I am having terrible trouble getting the i2M to reliably track velocity and breath volume. It consistently sends NOTEON and CC2 messages at velocity/value 127. Intermittently, occasionally, it will decide to track volume properly, but only for a few seconds and then it is back to full scale messages. Pitch tracking is working fine.

At first I thought it must be a gain problem, but on recording the input signal it is well below 0dB, and the clipping light does not light up.

I attach screenshots of the setup app, and some recorded MIDI (without Pitch Bend events, as that is not causing a problem). Note that it is not sending any Breath messages apart from one following NOTEON and one following NOTEOFF.

I have tried a factory reset, and I have tried redoing a firmware update.

Macbook Pro M1 Max, MacOS 14.5
