Wahoo stuck in update mode

Post by Vibraphone »

I tried to update the firmware version of my Wahoo to the latest one (1.5.01) and had a problem...

In the same time, i was also updating the Editor : but my antivirus (Avast) blocked the file. It was unable to install it immediately, so i unplugged the wahoo from the computer : it was a mistake.
After that, I tried to use the Wahoo normally, but it stays in update mode "upd" and does nothing else.
So, I plugged it again to my computer (with the new editor finally installed), but nothing happened. The Wahoo stays in "upd" mode but the editor does not recognize it.
I tried with the firmware updater : same thing... The updater keeps asking me "please connect the device you wish to update" while the Wahoo is already connected and displaying "upd".

Is there a way to "reboot" it or something ?

You need the Sonuus Firmware Updater. This is available from our downloads area. You need this anyway because the editor requires it to do the firmware update.

You also need the firmware update file (also available from the download area), with extension sfu. I've also attached this file to this post to make it easier for you.

Run the updater, and load the update file (.sfu) it will detect it's a Wahoo update and look for the Wahoo in update mode. Since you are already in update mode, it should find it ok. Then just click update and it should do it.

NOTE: There isn't any virus in the editor. It is mis-detecting the tamper-proofing technology that the editor uses as a virus.

I tried that yesterday (and again today) : it doesn't work...

When I plug the Wahoo to the computer, the firmware updater keeps asking me "please connect the device you wish to update." and nothing else happens. The "update" button on the firmware updater stays inactive.

You need to load the .sfu file into the firmware updater first.

The firmware updater is used for several Sonuus products: Wahoo, Voluum, i2M musicport. It doesn't know which device to look for until you load the firmware file (.sfu). Once you load the Wahoo update into the application, it will know to look for the Wahoo and let you do the update.

Yes, I did it that way.

I loaded the "Voluum_1_0501.sfu" file in the updater
I plugged the Wahoo to the computer
And nothing happened ("update" button still inactive)

That's the problem. You need to load "Wahoo_1_0500.sfu" .. the one you used is for the Voluum so it won't let you load that onto the wrong pedal.
