midi device settings

Post by skuppy »

Hi Guys

I am not a midi expert, so silly question

the manual states :

ensure the MIDI
patch you use is also set to a pitch-bend
range of ±2 semitones.

I am using an analog synth
What should I be changing to reflect this ?

thanks for your help

It depends on the analogue synth. Which synth are you using?

MIDI Pitch bend is just a message that says to bend up or down, but there is no scale applied to that, so it could bend up 1 semitone or 12 (or something else). If the synth is set to something different from the G2M, although it will work it will sound like the pitch is going wrong because the synth is bending the note more or less than your guitar is actually bending. (Note this can be quite useful for special effects, though.)

I've never used that synth and can't see a manual on-line, but I have read something about: "The bender also has a pitch bend sensitivity knob". Have you got something like this?

Glad you found it. That looks like the right setting. I think both UPPER and LOWER should be set to 2.
