Usually you would use the i2M musicport with a computer.
However, it will also work with other "computers" including many phones and tablets.
You can also use it with standard 5-pin MIDI equipment, but you'd need a "USB Host" device to support this. These are two examples of what you can use to connect the i2M musicport to standard (non-USB) MIDI equipment:
