I2m compatible with midi guitar 2 software?

Hi there,
I am very interested in purchasing the i2m music port and was wondering whether I could integrate it into the following system:
Electric guitar into hotone soul press (expression pedal) into i2m music port into focusrite scarlet Interface into Mac Logic Pro - controlling Vst instruments (e.g. spitfire violin) using midi guitar 2 software.
The midi guitar 2 software allows me to use my guitar as a midi controller. However I was hoping that by using the i2m music port I could assign certain parameters ( e.g volume or vibrato) to the expression pedal and hopefully the recording of the vst instrument will sound more realistic. Would that work?
I do apologize in advance if my question is confusing or doesn’t really make sense. I am very new to music technology.
