difference between i2m and g2m?

I hope this isn't a tired old question; on what basis would one switch from i2m to g2m?
I'd been using the i2m with acoustic-electric guitar with Fishman pickup, presence and tone controls, with expected glitching. I bought a Strat for the purpose of much cleaner input to the i2m. When I stepped up from Windows 7 x64/HDD to Windows 10/SSD I noticed an IMMENSE improvement in tracking, both in ASIO audio and MIDI.

The material describing i2m and g2m doesn't seem to describe differences. I can say that the i2m's current performance is a close to perfect as I need. Polyphony would be the ultimate, though.

The MIDI conversion inside the i2M and G2M are essentially the same. The main reason for using one over the other is the convenience of the connections: the i2M is USB, so perfect to connect to a computer, whereas the G2M is a standard 5-pin MIDI port so more suited to connecting to hardware MIDI products.

Often the G2M can feel faster, particularly when using a hardware sound generator, because you don't have the additional latency of a big operating system and more importantly the larger audio buffer sizes used on a computer (typically 5-10ms) compared to in hardware (typically 1ms).

it's very interesting you got a significant improvement going from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It may just be that the underlying computer is much faster (was it new computer hardware, or just an OS upgrade?)

james! the upgrade from win 7 to 10 is on an ASUS of 2012 vintage..... the impressive improvement in tracking may also be attributable to the OS being on SSD. I had no idea what an SSD could do for the entire system, so...... I know my ASIO runs nicely with buffer at 128; vst's and the i2m are exceedingly nice to play and record the MIDI and audio.

DO you anticipate polyphony coming to the Sonuus USB MIDI realm?
