would like to control the changes done in the desktop-editor within an external synth.
no idea how to connect both:
1 USB output - goes to computer to edit the config.
1 USB should connect to an iPad to check the changes done in the editor.
thank you
how to connect i2M to both: PC: desktop editor AND iPad
Re: how to connect i2M to both: PC: desktop editor AND iPad
I think the only way to do this so both run together is to use a 5-pin MIDI connection between the computer and iPad. To do this you'd need two USB-MIDI interfaces (many are now available as simple "cables" that do the MIDI-to-USB conversion).
Then you would configure it as follows:
(1) i2M connected to desktop.
(2) USB-MIDI cable connected to desktop, with software configured to "echo" the MIDI from the input (the i2M) to the output (this USB-MIDI cable)
(3) USB-MIDI cable connected to the iPad (check to make sure the iPad supports the one you use).
(4) Connect 5-pin MIDI cable from the computers USB-MIDI cable "out" to the iPad's USB-MIDI cable "in".
5-pin MIDI can be a good way to link multiple devices/instruments together (why it was designed!) and can run for rather long distances too, much longer than a USB cable.
