no tremolo effect with midi clock from Ableton Live

Post by p8guitar »

When I switch the tempo clock setting from 'tempo' to 'midi clock', there is no tremolo effect any more. The LFO LED is still blinking on the device, but the volume is not changed any more.
The midi clock is sent from Ableton Live via USB.
(Ableton Live 113.4, Voluum firmware version 1.5.01, hardware version 1.0.00, desktop version 1.5.03, MacOS 12.6.8)

Are the volume LEDs moving (the 5 LEDs in a curve)? That indicates that the volume is being modulated.

In the "midi" settings page, see if "midi clock freerun" is enabled. When this is enabled, the LFO will sync to MIDI clock whenever it is received. But if this is not enabled, the LFO won't start until a MIDI start/continue message is received. This allows you to sync the LFO phase with your song so each time you start/stop/rewind etc, the LFO phase will start in the correct place. If Ableton Live isn't sending the start/continue message this could explain what you are seeing.
