i2M Mac question

Post by gtrblueprint »

Hey guys,

A quick question. I'm trying to use the i2M as an audio AND a midi converter in AU lab.

AU Lab recognizes the i2M on the midi channel but doesn't recognize it as an audio device.

I checked it in the AUDIO MIDI utility - and it sees the unit there as an audio input.

I tend to use AU Lab for live audio/midi processing because - 1. It's free and 2. Uses a fraction of the CPU of something like LOGIC.

Any suggestions?

I've not tried AU lab yet.

Could it be because the i2M has only an audio input and no output?

In OSX, you can create an aggregate device, with the i2M as the input device and another device as the output. If you do this does the aggregate device appear in AU Lab and let you use the i2M for audio? I had a similar problem in Logic 7 and I that's how I got around the problem.

It's possible but AU Lab recognizes USB/Firewire input....

I'm using logic 9 and it recognized the unit as an aggregate device out of the box. But I'll give it a try.

I'm amazed more people don't use AU Lab for live audio/midi processing. I run my entire live guitar rig with it:

Thanks!
