using G2M to control a keyboard

I have no problem using the G2M to control my computer's soundcard. However, I can't get the G2M to control my yamaha keyboard. What could I be doing wrong?

What keyboard are you using?
The G2M transmits on MIDI channel 1, so you need to ensure you configure the keyboard to receive external MIDI on channel 1, rather than being controlled by it's built-in keyboard.

It's a Yamaha PSR-420. I've never tried to configure it, so I'll try tinkering with it as you suggest. Thanks.
