Hi there,
while I love the Wahoo and it's presets for guitar and think it sounds absolutely brilliant, I am having quite a hard time getting useful settings for my bass.
Anyone interested in sharing good sounding settings with me?
Bass Settings... wanna share?
Re: Bass Settings... wanna share?
I hope others can share their settings -- that's what we want to encourage!
What kind of sounds are you looking to create?
A small guide to a few of the factory presets:
F03 is a bass wah. This uses two filters to tailor the sound for bass. Filter 2 is a fixed (i.e., Fhi = Flo) low-pass filter (cutoff at 100Hz, resonance = 0) to let you keep all the low end of your bass. Filter 1 does the Wah. So small changes to these filter settings (and the filter mix) can let you sculpt the sound if it's not exactly how you want it.
F30 - F39 are designed as bass envelope filters.
A lot of presets work well with guitar and bass. But sometimes the low end gets lost. You can improve that by either changing a filter from band-pass to low-pass, or by reducing the dry/wet mix to bring in more dry signal. So that's a good place to start.
If envelope filters aren't responding how you want them too, change the sensitivity parameter. You can also do this globally (so it applies an adjustment to all presets on the fly without actually changing those presets) using the custom sensitivity parameter (in the desktop editor this is in Setup | Settings | sensitivity adjust). Different guitars have different output levels, so this lets you quickly adjust all presets when you change guitar.

Re: Bass Settings... wanna share?
Hey Steve, I'm using the wahoo with bass (but only scratching the surface so far). I've taken the presets for bass and customised them - in most cases (as James has said) I've changed the filter type from bandpass to low pass, and in a few cases changed the dry / wet mix. I've also found that reducing the upper filter frequency in some cases has made some settings more bass appropriate to my ears. I've only created one custom patch so far, trying to replicate the synth bass envelope on Chameleon - getting close I think (particularly when combined with an octave pedal).SteveFromBerlin wrote:Hi there,

For what it's worth, here are my initial customisations. Perhaps they'll help you as a starting point? I'll post more when I've done some real programming.

And here's a modified F03 (with envelope trigger rather than pedal)
Let us know how you go! Look forward to seeing some of your settings sometime too!

And my first cut of a "Chameleon" setting:
Suspect with all of these you may need to customise your sensitivity - my bass is active with a relatively hot output...Let us know how you go! Look forward to seeing some of your settings sometime too!
