Has anyone tried this? I'm getting latency at about 40 ms which renders the G2M virtually unusable for what I want to do. I was told by a guitar player friend of mine that piezos work really great for his guitar synth setup. Before I go through the expense of outfitting one of my basses with piezos, I would like to know if it will close the gap and by how much.
Thanks in advance

Re: Electric bass with piezo
For the Sonuus MIDI converters, the pickup type doesn't make a huge difference because they are designed to work well with a variety of input types, not just guitars.
40ms latency is long if the notes you are playing are not the low notes. But for the lowest bass notes, 40ms is perfectly normal because you typically need a little more than one period (cycle) to detect the pitch of a plucked string. So 50ms for a low B.
Making sure the note fundamental tone is strong has the most benefits. Using bridge pickups and plucking at the bridge generally give a weaker fundamental tone which may take longer to detect (it might have to wait longer to be sure the note is the fundamental and not a harmonic, for example).

Re: Electric bass with piezo
James, thanks for the reply. I did notice that the higher notes were slightly less latent. I guess my next option would be to try it with a higher tuning i.e. tenor or piccolo and tune the synth down an octave.
